It's been awhile since I've painted a self portrait. This is from an assignment a couple of years ago. A self portrait with some sort of headgear. The original painting came out ok… Actually, it was pretty crummy. So I decided to redo it. I'm much happier with this go round. My inspiration was the Orientalist art movement of the 18th-19th centuries.

There is nothing political about this painting. I've just always been intrigued by the Middle Eastern culture.
