"Ready Freddie!" Freddie Mercury Sketch

It was very slow at work Thursday. So I sketched Freddie Mercury on the back of a misprinted MacBook pricing sheet. As I was sketching, I absolutely hated it. But looking at it the last couple of days, it has started to grow on me. "Now I'm here!"

Paint it Black - Monochromatic Keef is Complete

I'm about ready to start adding color. Obviously there are more details to add, finishing the guitar, shoes, hair, jewelry, etc. . .  But I have the basic values down. I will throw in more details as I add color. Most of this layer will be covered up by the time it's complete.

Once again I'm pointing out that this is a personal project that I'm making up as I go along. So, after I've gone way too far on the face, I've finally decided what I want to do with the rest of it. I've started to block in the rest of it. Then after I've finished the under-painting, I'll start adding color. Wow, his right hand is bigger than his head!

Ringo: Stage II - Tightening the Speed Painting

I've been working more on my Ringo. I made a crummy pencil sketch several months ago. Then I started over and did a 1 hour speed painting.  So now I'm spending more time on the speed painting, by fixing the values, tightening the loose shapes, adding details, and improving the caricature. It's still far from done. But I thought it was a good time for another progress pic. (also partly because I haven't posted in a while)
